» VIOLATIONS OF CIVIL RIGHTS IN SECURITY AND INTELLIGENCE PRISONS AND DETENTION CENTERS IN TEHRAN

The present text is a report on the investigation of the Civil rights Inspectorate about the situation of civil rights in Tehran province's detention centers. After months of inspecting detention centers, the Civil rights Inspectorate found notable cases of civil rights violations, including: the use of blindfolds; physical punishment of detainees; holding detainees without charge or sentences; prolonged investigations; subjecting a 13-year-old to most inhumane detention facilities for stealing a chicken; retaining a 73-year-old woman in custody for financial debt; imprisoning a women instead of her fugitive husband was accused of drug trafficking; and imprisoning 1400 individuals without charge or trial in one of the prisons. The Inspectorate recommended further investigation into alleged cases of assault on female detainees.

The present document is an interview, published in The New Yorker, with the American assassin hired by the Islamic Republic of Iran to kill one of its opponents in the United States. A member of Muslim Brotherhood, Dawud Salahuddin killed Ali Akbar Tabata'i, a former Iranian diplomat who lived in Bethesda, on July 22nd 1980. Dawud Salahuddin lives now in Iran. Said Ramdan, a high ranking member of Muslim Brotherhood and Dawud Salahuddin's contact with the organization, had encouraged him to kill the Iranian diplomat for the Islamic Republic of Iran.


» Prisoners have been tortured

The present document is an official letter addressed by the Governor of Iran's Central Province to Mr. Abdollahi, the Islamic Revolutionary Prosecutor of the city of Saveh. The Governor denounces the practice of torture in Saveh's detention center, he encloses excerpts from the minutes of a forensic report documenting cases of torture, dated 15 September 1979 and advocates the immediate suspension of such practices. He also requests an official investigation by judicial authorities regarding this matter. The letter was published five month later. The names of the Governor and the medical froensic expert have been removed.
