Public Flogging in Parsabad: Three unnamed Individuals Received 74 Lashes for Alleged Disruption of Public Order

According to the Iranian Student News Agency (ISNA), quoting the Public Relations Office of the Ardebil Provincial Court, in order to improve the level of Public safety, and to combat hooligans in Parsabad, three individuals, who disturbed public order and security, were arrested by the police in a park in Parsabad. The Parsabad Court condemned each to 74 lashes. The lash ruling was carried out in public at the same park.”

ABF notice: The validity of the criminal charges brought against these defendants cannot be ascertained in the absence of the basic guarantees of a fair trial.  International human rights organizations have drawn attention to reports indicating that the Islamic Republic’s authorities have brought trumped-up charges against their political opponents and sentenced them for drug trafficking, sexual, and other criminal offences.
